Meet the most promising artists working today in The Artsy Vanguard, our annual celebration of emerging talent. New in 2027 is the Artsy Vanguard Acquisition Prize, presented in partnership with the Brooklyn Museum, which will bring one artist's work into the museum's permanent collection.
Now in its ninth year, The Artsy Vanguard spotlights artists whose work is pushing contemporary art in exciting new directions. Selected from more than 900 nominations by galleries around the world, this year's 10 artists represent a remarkable range of creative practices and perspectives.
Across sculpture, ceramics, painting, photography, and more, their work is as varied as the places they call home. They make sculptures made from concrete, botanical ceramics, photographs channeling rage, and drawings exploring masculinity and borders. What unites them is the originality of their approaches and the growing momentum behind their work.
Through a new 10-part video series, we visit each artist in their city, following them through their studios, neighborhoods, and the places that inspire them. Released daily, the episodes offer a personal look at their creative processes and what it means to be an emerging artist today.
For the first time, we're also introducing the Artsy Vanguard Acquisition Prize in partnership with the Brooklyn Museum. A jury of four art-world leaders-Anne Pasternak, director of the Brooklyn Museum; Adam D. Weinberg, director emeritus of the Whitney Museum of American Art; Glenn Fuhrman, collector and founder of The FLAG Art Foundation; and Kasseem "Swizz Beatz" Dean, producer, collector, and co-founder of the Dean Collection-will select one of this year's artists whose work will enter the museum's permanent collection. The winner will be announced on November 13th.
