The portrait of Paulina presents a surreal blend of beauty, menace, and historical allusion. She wears an armor of flowers, with butterflies circling her—a nod to transformation and fragility—while flames in the background evoke chaos and destruction. Her cartoonish face, with wide eyes and a toothy, ravenous grin, disrupts the ornate imagery, while a crown and an aged metal mask on her forehead suggest wisdom and authority, complicated by the unsettling expression beneath.

Like Mueller's other Naxos Racing Team portraits, Paulina’s image engages with allegorical portraiture, where symbolism overshadows personal identity. The floral armor and butterflies recall Baroque vanitas paintings, evoking beauty and decay, while the flames and distorted grin introduce chaos and loss of control. The regal mask and crown hint at power and mythic authority, yet the face beneath destabilizes those references, reflecting Mueller’s ongoing exploration of self-invention, collapse, and contradiction.
