• A still life painting featuring a white animal skull and a bouquet of pink and white flowers in a green vase, placed on a red draped cloth against a dark background.

C Lucy R Whitehead

  • C. Lucy R. Whitehead paints ambiguous forms that hover between the anatomical and the abstract—soft masses that fold, droop, and stretch across pale linen grounds. Rendered in muted tones and delicate gradients, her shapes suggest bodies without becoming them, recalling organic matter under observation or held in suspension. The compositions are quiet but charged, attuned to pressure, weight, and the subtle strangeness of flesh. Through repetition and restraint, Whitehead creates a visual language that feels at once scientific and empathetic, distant and deeply felt.

    C. Lucy R. Whitehead (b. 1991, Liverpool, UK; lives and works in London) received her MA in Painting from the Royal College of Art and her BA in Drawing from Camberwell College of Art. She is a current recipient of the DYCP Grant from Arts Council England and the Basil H. Alkazzi Scholarship. Recent exhibitions include MOLLIS MACHINA (solo), Soho Revue, London; Small Is Beautiful, Flowers Gallery, London; More Than Meets The Eye, Mint, Munich; and The Consolation of Clinamen, Tabula Rasa Gallery, Beijing
