Still Life 1 - When I started school in the fall, it was a huge transition to move from a studio where I’ve been working alone for a decade to an enclosed communal structure. The shift from working in a garage surrounded by a beautiful garden to a shared studio building manifested in a deviation from painting the outer world to a more interior world, from flowers rooted in landscapes to vases of cut flowers in still lives. I also switched from filling every shape in the composition with a gradient to incorporating patterns such as a black and white grid.
