A Place to Hide brings Casey’s surreal stage into the sharper focus of an imagined ceramics studio, where vessels, rocks, and furniture mingle with a disembodied limb. The pink, urn-like form suggests shelter, yet the body crouched beneath the stool feels both exposed and absurdly disguised. It’s a painting about vulnerability - the desire for refuge and the futility of total concealment. The work speaks to the exhibition’s larger concern with how bodies and objects hold interior life, offering cover while never fully erasing what lies within.
